HW for January 10, 2014
1) Prepare for a reading quiz on Tuesday about the 6 elements of a play.
2) Research on your assigned play or musical and make sure you have the following by Wednesday:
a) Spectacle - pictures about the set, stage, costume, props, and/or make up used in the play.
b) Music - one song/sfx from the play which is important. Be sure to explain the importance of the song/sfx.
c) Plot and Characters - a synopsis of 8-10 sentences which introduces the characters and their conflicts as well as what happens to them in the play.
d) Theme - a one sentence statement of the theme/author's message/truth in life.

1) Prepare for a Reading Quiz (RQ) #2 on Tuesday about the types of essays. Review IS # 1.
2) Read and answer LAS # 3. In the Notes portion, write down a) the main idea of each paragraph and b) any unfamiliar words in the text and their meanings.
3) Prepare for a check up quiz on Wednesday about "The Call of the Wild," ch. 4-5.

3) Rehearse for your speak ups (play and script read aloud) and your play LT. Be ready by Thursday for the script read aloud.

AUDIENCE: You are writing to FACULTY in the AGS (your former teachers), the AJHS (your present teachers), and the AHS (your future teachers)as a member of the AJHS grade 7 Magis CA class. What about the Magis classes, the AGS and AJHS Magis classes, and/or Magis life, terms, and/or expressions will s/he not know and which you HAVE to explain in detail?
Remember your answers to these when you are writing.
CONTENT: What are the 3 advantages that you want to focus on? What are the 3 disadvantages? Are they experiences which are uniquely Magis? Can you classify them (ex. Academics, Social, Contests, Lessons, etc.)? Can you provide specific examples and details to make your points clearer?
ORGANIZATION: Will you present the advantages or the disadvantages first? Why? What transitional expressions would you use at the start of a paragraph after advantages? What if you gave the disadvantages first; what transitional expressions would you use at the start of a paragraph about advantages?
