Scoring System It is possible to score points with 5 Minute Mystery even if you do not solve the mystery correctly. Also, in order to get the top score, you must not only solve the mystery, but you must also identify all of the clues. Here is how the scoring works:
- For each sentence marked correctly, including both the correct suspect as well as incriminate/exonerate, you get 2 points.
- For each sentence incorrectly marked you lose 1 point. This includes marking a sentence that is not a clue, marking the wrong suspect or incorrectly marking incriminate/exonerate.
- For solving the mystery, you get 10 points.
- Medium and Hard mysteries include a bonus. If you correctly get all of the clues and solve the mystery, you get bonus points. 3 Bonus points are awarded for a medium mystery and 5 points are awarded for a hard mystery.
- If an easy mystery has 4 clues and you correctly identify all 4 clues and also solve the mystery, you would get 18 points. (4 clues at 2 points each plus 10 for solving the mystery.)
- If a hard mystery has 4 clues and you correctly identify all 4 clues and also solve the mystery, you would get 23 points. (4 clues at 2 points each plus 10 for solving the mystery plus 5 bonus points.)
- If you only marked 3 of the 4 clues, got all 3 correct and solved the mystery, then you would get 16 points. (3 clues at 2 points each plus 10 for solving the mystery.)
- If you marked 4 clues and got 3 correct and solved the mystery, you would get 15 points. (3 clues at 2 points each, minus 1 point for an incorrect clue plus 10 for solving the mystery.)
- If you marked 4 clues and got 2 correct and incorrectly solved the mystery, you would get 2 points. (2 clues at 2 points each, minus 2 point for 2 incorrect clues plus no for solving the mystery.)
